Benji Blue Bills, an upcoming rapper and leader in the underground rap scene is getting a mainstream feature on his album Campaign Blue
Benji’s style of rap could be described as electronic trap music. Some of the beats that Benji raps on are reminiscent of old video game music with their vintage synth sounds and melodic lead melodies made mostly by his main producer, MAYDAY, whose tag you will most likely hear at the beginning of a Benji Blue Bills song. What separates Benji Blue Bills from the rest is his refreshing, genre-bending sound, which he executes perfectly. Benji’s low, monotone voice, along with his witty and aggressive lyrics, accompanies the upbeat electronic melodies and complete each other like yin and yang, making a rhythmic song, and leaving listeners wanting to hear more.
Benji got his big break in 2023 after a snippet of an unreleased song by the biggest artist in the genre, Playboi Carti, was leaked where Carti would say, “I was looking for Benji.” The unreleased snippet would go viral and have fans wondering, “Who is Benji?”
The attention from Playboi Carti’s 54 million listeners on Spotify was just the opportunity Benji, who at the time, had well under a million monthly listeners, needed. Benji would release a response to the snippet from Carti in his song, “IM RIGHT HERE”, allowing a large amount of people to see his other exceptional albums and singles that they may not have found otherwise.
Benji isn’t afraid to be himself, which is what makes him genuine and why he has gotten so much respect from fans and bigger names in the rap industry. His authenticity is apparent through his music, music videos, and concerts. On stage, he is genuine and respectful to fans while wearing his favorite clothing brand, Moncler, from head to toe and a diamond chain. Benji reaches out to people in the front of the stage with the number 100 tattooed on the back of his hand in the federal banknote font, along with his wrist stacked with gold Tiffany jewelry that he often references in his music.
Benji would gain respect from and become friends with rapper Lucki who has 6 million monthly listeners. Lucki would be the only feature on his 2023 album “Campaign Blue” in the song “Coming Home.”
Benji has continued to gain traction as of recently releasing a song called “Aye Rage” produced by BYNX, who was a co-producer of Drake’s Billboard Hot 100 number one song, “Slime You Out” featuring SZA. Benji has a style unlike anyone else in underground rap and has what it takes to continue to make an even bigger name for himself in the future.
